The author would better refer to it as “dominant race” privilege. Dominant here does not mean most powerful, but usually most frequent, or native, or similar. Singaporeans and Chinese face this issue living in Malaysia (where it’s “Malaysian privilege”), Whites face this issue living in China, Indians face it in Dubai, and so on. Humans appear to be born with a preference for like-minded individuals, and race or national background is an easy mechanism to align by. This appears to be a human trait, not a “white” trait.
